How does CVAssist work?
It’s simple to use this extension:
- Install it on your Chrome-based browser and open it
- Create a Claude API key, and save it
- Paste the full content of your CV, and save it
- (Optional) Create a free Jina AI Reader api key, and save it
- Open the job description page of the job you are applying for
- Click “Parse JD.” The extension will automatically retrieve the job context on the page, including the company name, job title, job description, salary range, location, …, and save it to the temporary local storage.
- You will see the status indicator to show the parsing stage.
- Using Jina AI helps parse a more complex page to ensure the parsing won’t fail. The api will only be called if our default methods fail
- Move to the Application page, and click “Fill form.”
- You will see the extension is connecting to Claude, and Claude will return the personalised answer to each field in the application form based on the job context and your CV content
- If you find anything that needs revisions, just manually edit it

The LLM model I used is Claude 3.5 Sonnet, because it is still the most reliable model with a good taste in the writing tone (sounds more human, in a concise manner).
